Four Easy Ways to Access the Notification Center on Mountain Lion

Out of 200 amazing features in Mac OS X Mountain Lion, one is the notification center. This is probably the first most amazing notification center for any Desktop Operating system which helps you to get your important notifications within a second. So, you could remain in touch with all social networks, RSS feeds of subscribed websites and the other important notification about your Mac. Native Menu Bar:

The simplest and probably mostly using method to access the notification center on Mac OS Mountain Lion is the Notification Center icon which is located on the Upper right corner on Menu Bar of Homescreen of your Mac.

Using Gestures on Trackpad:

Gestures are something most amazing to access different windows, programs introduced by Apple. Using simple swiping, pinching or zoom in, out options, you can easily access different functions even the Notification Center. But before that, you will need to Enable Notification center for gesture. Follow the simple instructions to do that.

  • Go to System Preferences
  • Select Trackpad and click on the “More Gestures”
  • Now, check the Notification center here to enable it via gesture.

Gesture: Swipe two fingers from right corner to the middle to activate Notification Center.

Using Keyboard shortcuts:

Keyboard shortcuts are probably the oldest methods to enable different functions and also the difficult one. Because you can’t remember all the shortcuts at the same time. However, if you don’t have a Trackpad and want another way to quickly access notification center than this is for you. But just like gestures, you will need to set a shortcut for activating Notification center.

  • Go to System Preferences
  • Select Keyboard and click on the “Keyboard Shortcuts”
  • On the left side, select the “Mission Control” and you will see notification center option in the right side of the window.
  • Now, select a shortcut key to enable it for the Notification center.

That’s it! Now whenever you will hit that keyboard shortcut, you will see the activated Notification center.

Activate via Hot Corners:

Hot corners is another technique to activate notification center, it works in a very simple. First of all you will need to set a hot corner on your screen, whenever your pointer will come on that hot corner, it will automatically launch the notification center. To set hot corner:

  • Go to System Preferences
  • Select Mission Control
  • Now, select the “Hot corners” button in the lower left corner
  • Assign a corner to open the “Notification Center”
